## Description

The Gilead COMPASS Initiative® works to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Southern United States by partnering with local community organizations and stakeholders. Its approach centers on evidence-based solutions that respond to the needs of people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, while helping communities build capacity and reduce HIV-related stigma.

Through coordinating centers at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health, the Southern AIDS Coalition, the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, and Wake Forest University School of Divinity, COMPASS supports collaboration and shared learning. Its opportunities include grants for strengthening organizational capacity, wellness, and stigma-related work; free training and coaching tailored to organizations’ needs; and collaborative learning activities for groups working to end the epidemic.

The initiative also provides tools and resources, including external resources, events, and information about community partners. Its work promotes awareness, holistic wellness through mental health services and trauma-informed care, and faith-based advocacy and spiritually integrated organizations.
