About
Description
Girls For A Change (GFAC) is a nonprofit youth development organization focused on empowering self-identifying Black girls in Central Virginia. Their mission is to prepare Black girls for the world and the world for Black girls. Since their establishment in 2000 and achieving nonprofit status in 2004, GFAC has been committed to inviting young women to design, lead, fund, and implement social change projects that address the unique challenges faced by girls in their communities.
In recent years, GFAC has concentrated on empowering Black girls specifically, aiming to end prejudice, poverty, and limited resources that disproportionately affect this population. Through their programs, girls not only engage in social change projects but also gain problem-solving skills, learn about policy change, and develop leadership abilities. GFAC programs cater to girls of all ages, providing consistent support and addressing various issues such as racism, sexism, and the digital divide.
Their goal is to give every girl the opportunity to succeed by closing opportunity gaps and providing them with the skills necessary for personal and economic advancement
