## Description

Give Food is a UK charity that utilizes data to shed light on local and structural food insecurity issues, and then offers effective solutions to alleviate them. Our organization operates the only national public database of food banks, providing real-time updates on their donation needs. By collaborating with various public and private entities, including other charities, we share this valuable data with millions of users each year, enabling them to understand and engage with the causes of food poverty.

Established in February 2020, just before the onset of COVID-19 lockdowns, Give Food has swiftly partnered with hundreds of local organizations dedicated to combating food insecurity. Together, we have delivered hundreds of tonnes of crucial supplies to communities in need. During the pandemic, we supplied 1.2 million PPE items to food banks across the country, ensuring their safety while they continued to support their communities.

To empower our users to take action, we use our data to identify food banks within their parliamentary constituency. Additionally, we provide a user-friendly tool that facilitates emailing Members of Parliament and urging them to address the issue. Our operations are transparent and open source, with easy access to our current and historical code, data, and financial accounts. We welcome feedback, suggestions, and encouragement from all quarters.

Give Food is a registered charity in England and Wales (1188192). We are also registered with the Fundraising Regulator and ICO Data Protection. For more information, please refer to our Privacy Policy. Contact us at mail@givefood.org.uk with any inquiries.
