## Description

Hokkaido’s Okhotsk Sea Ice Museum GIZA is a public science and visitor attraction in Mombetsu, dedicated to the wonders of sea ice and the natural environment of the Okhotsk region. Visitors can explore exhibits about sea ice and experience real ice harvested during winter in the museum’s minus-20°C cold chamber, where it remains available to touch throughout the year. The facility also features a distinctive tilted, full-dome theater, presenting immersive footage that takes viewers on a dramatic journey across the ice, as well as planetarium programs on astronomy and related topics. Beyond its permanent experiences, the museum hosts seasonal events, workshops, and exhibitions, including photography and art displays in its multipurpose hall. Its website provides practical visitor information, access details, updates on opening arrangements, and resources about sea ice and regional tourism. Located at the roadside station Okhotsk Mombetsu, the center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with scheduled closures except during designated holiday and winter seasons. It is operated by the Okhotsk Living Culture Promotion Foundation.
