## Description

The glbtq Encyclopedia Project, founded in 2000, aimed to create the world's largest online encyclopedia of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer culture and history. Led by General Editor Claude Summers, the project featured articles covering a wide range of topics including the Fine Arts, Literature, Social Sciences, History, and more. While some literature entries were based on a printed book, the project generated 186 original literature entries. With 549 entries dedicated to Social Sciences and History, the project delved into key figures, events, and movements in various disciplines. Additionally, 35 essays and interviews provided in-depth insights into various aspects of the LGBTQ community. The project also produced three books on visual arts, music, dance, and film. Although the website closed in 2015, the valuable information and resources created by the project remain archived for future reference.
