## Description

GlobalBeerIndex is an independent project that organizes beer styles within a consistent, sensory-based framework. It covers more than 140 styles across 13 families, describing each through the same 15 dimensions, including colour, aroma, bitterness, body and finish. Standardized characteristics, tags and relationships help users explore styles, understand their defining features and compare them systematically. Founded by Pascal Baars, GlobalBeerIndex combines analytical modelling with beer expertise to create an accessible reference for beer knowledge.

Its tools include a Beer Style Explorer, side-by-side style comparisons and Beer Style Match, which helps users discover styles suited to their preferences. Visitors can also explore competition results and see how award categories connect with beer styles. Educational resources cover topics such as beer tasting, sensory analysis, style methodology and session or alcohol-free beer. For advanced users, GBI PRO offers additional filtering, comparison and data-export capabilities. The project also supports education, research, competition analysis and professional applications, and invites enquiries about data use and collaboration.
