## Description

Founded in 2008, the Council for Global Equality (CGE) is a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy coalition working to advance LGBTQI+ human rights worldwide. It brings together human rights and LGBTQI+ organizations, advocates, litigators, researchers, health experts, foreign policy specialists, philanthropists, and public officials. CGE seeks to strengthen the U.S. voice on human rights and encourage a coordinated, human rights-centered approach to inclusion and equal treatment.

The Council works with civil society organizations, government officials, and multilateral institutions, and focuses on affirming human rights, defending inclusive democracy, coalition advocacy, holding the U.S. government accountable, and supporting civil society. Its efforts also encourage the U.S. government and U.S. businesses to support LGBTQI+ inclusion globally.

CGE provides policy briefs, reports, public statements, press releases, and other resources intended to support advocacy, documentation, collaboration, accountability, and impact. It shares updates through its press room and social media, invites organizations and individuals to collaborate, and accepts donations to support advocacy, diplomacy, and direct action for equality.
