Great Lakes Observing System

Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) is a nonprofit organization that offers end-to-end data services to support science, policy, management, and industry in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada. With a mission to improve our understanding, use, conservation, and management of the Great Lakes, GLOS provides a range of products and services. One of their notable offerings is the Seagull platform, specifically designed for the Great Lakes.

Seagull connects people to the water by providing them with important lake information. This powerful cloud-based platform redefines how connected data becomes valuable information and insights in the hands of users. GLOS also focuses on initiatives like Lakebed 2030, which brings together bathymetric data to create an easily accessible map of the lake floor.

Additionally, GLOS offers observing buoys, models, high-frequency radar, uncrewed systems, and various data categories and apps. These resources enable scientists, policymakers, managers, and industry professionals to access and utilize critical data for informed decision-making. As a trusted authority in the field, GLOS is a certified regional association in NOAA's Integrated Ocean Observing System, contributing to the collective effort of monitoring and understanding the Great Lakes environment
