## Description

GMSE, or Grupo Mundo Subterrâneo de Espeleologia, is a Brazilian speleology group focused on caves and other natural underground cavities. Its work brings together people interested in congregating, studying caves, and strengthening public engagement with speleology, particularly in northeastern Brazil. The group highlights the exceptional cave resources of Paripiranga, Bahia, where more than 100 cavities have been registered, and shares information about the region’s underground heritage.

GMSE supports learning and exchange through events, expeditions, workshops, and discussions. In 2018, it took part in the VII Espeleo Amigos gathering, held in Aracaju, Sergipe, and Paripiranga, Bahia. The event welcomed speleologists, scientists, students, and cave enthusiasts from across Brazil, with activities including discussions on speleology and vertical caving workshops.

The group also publishes educational material, including content about cave anatomy and a guide explaining Brazilian legislation for cave protection. Its website features news, videos, information about caves in Paripiranga, and resources on speleology, alongside channels for visitors to learn more and get in touch.
