## Description

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation supports the next generation of research leaders in science, engineering, and mathematics. Established by Congress as a living memorial to Senator Barry Goldwater, the Foundation has fostered academic excellence since 1986. Its scholarship program helps college sophomores and juniors who plan to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering, contributing to the development of highly qualified professionals in these fields.

Applicants must be nominated through their college or university. The Foundation provides information and practical guidance for prospective students, campus representatives, faculty recommenders, and current scholars. Resources explain eligibility, the nomination and application process, research essays, recommendation letters, and important deadlines. Campus representatives can access tools for managing institutional reviews and nominations, while students can locate their representative and prepare their applications. The Foundation also shares scholarship impact stories, scholar profiles, news, and information about its history and governance. Through its scholarships and support resources, it connects promising undergraduates with opportunities to advance research and pursue scientific careers.
