# Golfverband Sachsen und Thüringen - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `golfverband-sachsen-und-thueringen.de` ## Description The Golfverband Sachsen und Thüringen (GVST) is the regional governing body for golf in the German states of Saxony and Thuringia and a member of the German Golf Association (DGV). Its membership comprises golf clubs and golf facility operators, rather than individual players. The association represents 21 golf facilities and around 11,500 players across the region. The GVST supports the development and organisation of golf through tournament information, competition calendars, results, regulations and events for senior, youth and general sporting categories. Its activities include senior tournaments and rankings, youth programmes, championships and other competitions. It also promotes golf among children and young people through school and training initiatives, including the “Abschlag Schule” project, golf at Erfurt’s Pierre de Coubertin sports gymnasium, and regional training centres. In addition, the association supports university golf in cooperation with Chemnitz University.
