## Description

Golsteyn Art is the portrait-painting practice of Joost Golsteyn, offering original oil paintings of celebrities and commissioned portraits of family members, friends, idols, or other people chosen by clients. Available works have included portraits of figures such as Amy Winehouse, Picasso, John Travolta, and Jimi Hendrix. Each painting is a one-of-a-kind artwork, created in Golsteyn’s distinctive style, which brings together realistic likeness and abstract expression to convey a subject’s character and presence.

Golsteyn began drawing as a child and started painting on canvas in 1997. Since 2007, he has focused on painting celebrity portraits from photographs, developing an approach influenced by artists including Matisse, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, and Franz Kline. For commissioned portraits, he emphasizes discussion and the exchange of information so the finished work reflects the client’s wishes. Golsteyn Art presents its paintings as distinctive works for personal enjoyment or as meaningful gifts, and offers the opportunity to enquire about available options without obligation.
