## Description

The Good Oil is an independent New Zealand political news and commentary publication with a conservative, centre-right perspective. Formerly known as The BFD, it was founded by Cam Slater and covers national politics, elections, public policy and issues shaping debate in New Zealand and beyond. Its contributors include named authors, commentators and editorial staff, with coverage presented through news reports, opinion pieces, analysis and quick-hit updates.

The publication also features dedicated sections on culture, climate change, antisemitism and other current affairs, alongside cartoons, photoshops and puzzles. Its multimedia offering includes podcasts and videos, with topics ranging from political uncertainty and party positioning to public issues and commentary. Readers can browse the latest stories, explore articles by topic or author, and submit tips through the site’s tipline. The Good Oil offers paid memberships that provide access to exclusive articles, podcasts, videos and in-depth analysis, while public content is also available. A shop is listed among its site features, extending the publication’s offerings beyond its editorial coverage.
