Description
Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan is a nonprofit organization that operates as a social enterprise, employing commercial strategies to enhance human and environmental well-being. Since its founding in 1957, Goodwill SEMI has been dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. From its early days as a satellite operation sponsored by Detroit Goodwill, to becoming an independent entity in 1960 and later merging with the Lenawee Association of Retarded Citizens to form Goodwill-LARC in 1975, the organization has consistently expanded its reach and impact.
Today, Goodwill SEMI operates five retail stores in Adrian, Dundee, Lambertville, Monroe, and Saline, offering a wide range of products for sale. Additionally, their industrial services division collaborates with local industries, providing valuable employment opportunities. The organization also offers employment and training services, recycling services, and various support programs for individuals with disabilities.
Certified by CARF and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Goodwill SEMI is guided by a dedicated board of directors and a passionate team of over 160 employees. Through collaboration with local authorities, schools, nonprofits, and businesses, Goodwill SEMI continues to create exceptional opportunities for individuals facing barriers in the community
