## Description

The Georgia Ornithological Society (GOS) is an organization focused on birds and birding in Georgia. It offers opportunities for people interested in birds to connect through membership, meetings, publications, and youth programs. Visitors can learn about the society’s history, bylaws, and executive committee, and can join or renew their membership online.

GOS supports conservation and research through several grants, including awards for avian conservation, graduate and undergraduate research, and gardening for birds. The society also offers a young birder’s scholarship and shares a position statement on feral and free-roaming cats. Its publications include the GOShawk and Birding, alongside checklist reviews and information from the Checklist and Records Committee. Members and visitors can explore Georgia birding resources, including eBird hotspots, current sightings, birding ethics, other Georgia birding clubs, and Christmas Bird Counts. GOS also hosts regular meetings and recognizes contributions through the Earle R. Greene Award. Together, these programs and resources serve birders, researchers, and conservation-minded people across Georgia.
