## Description

Gotheborg is an independent information and research resource for collectors, students, and museums interested in antique Chinese and Japanese porcelain and Asian ceramics. Created by Jan-Erik Nilsson in Gothenburg, Sweden, the site draws on more than two decades of collector experience to help visitors investigate age, origin, authenticity, and identifying features. Its extensive free resources include more than 1,500 help and information pages, an illustrated glossary of over 860 porcelain terms, articles, historical documents, exhibition catalogues, travelogues, and answers to collectors’ questions. A database presents around 1,500 mostly dated and translated Chinese and Japanese porcelain marks. For individual pieces, visitors can request personal assistance by email. Members can also join an expert-moderated discussion board to share images, ask questions, and learn from an international community. Its searchable archive contains more than 370,000 questions, answers, and images across over 90 topics. The site also recommends books on Asian ceramics and documents research into the historic East Indiaman Gotheborg. Membership fees support the independently operated forum.
