## Description

Governance from Below is a research website supporting the work of Jean-Paul Faguet and his colleagues on local political economy, decentralization, governance, and development. Its central focus includes the book Decentralization and Popular Democracy: Governance from Below in Bolivia, which examines Bolivia’s experience as a radical decentralization reformer and explores the effects of transferring power to local levels. The site brings together related research, publications, and resources for readers interested in these issues.

Visitors can explore books, articles, working papers, journalism, and research organized around topics and countries, including Bolivia and Ethiopia, with material also available in Spanish. The website offers additional book-project content, case studies, graphs, charts, presentations, and recordings of lectures, alongside research databases, questionnaires, videos, and images. It also features conference papers, invited lectures, photographs from research and travel, and information about awards recognizing the work. New material is added as further research becomes available. Supported in part by the Niko Vardapetyan Research Award, Governance from Below provides an accessible collection of scholarly findings and supporting materials on political and economic systems.
