About Govuka

Description

Govuka is a brand dedicated to improving the health and agency of young people in Southern Africa, particularly in the Kingdom of Eswatini. Our focus is on educating and empowering adolescent girls who are at risk of HIV infection and unintended pregnancy due to engaging in intergenerational relationships with older men, known as blessers. Founded in 2021, Govuka aims to reach and educate 20,000 girls between the ages of 11 and 19 in Eswatini by 2026.


Our approach includes providing targeted and relatable information through a peer-driven curriculum. We believe that by demonstrating the benefits of not participating in intergenerational relationships, we can significantly improve the wellbeing and economic outcomes of these young girls. Our ultimate vision is to create an Eswatini where young people have access to the information and support they need to reach their full potential.
