## Description

GPN Vaccines is a biotechnology company that is focused on developing a universal vaccine for Streptococcus pneumoniae. This bacterial pathogen is responsible for causing life-threatening pneumonia, meningitis, and bacteraemia, as well as otitis media (middle ear infections). Each year, it leads to approximately 2 million deaths worldwide, making it deadlier for children than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. Currently, there are 100 known serotypes of S. GPN Vaccines aims to solve this issue by developing a whole-cell vaccine that is inactivated using high-energy photons. This approach preserves antigenic structures, allowing for broad-spectrum immunity against proteins present in all serotypes. The company is currently conducting a Phase I clinical trial to assess the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of their novel pneumococcal vaccine, Gamma-PN. With their groundbreaking research and commitment to protecting both adults and children, GPN Vaccines is at the forefront of combatting this formidable bacterial pathogen.
