## Description

The EAGC Grain Business Institute (GBI) is the training and capacity-building division of the Eastern Africa Grain Council. It serves stakeholders in the grain business through specialized training, consultancy and support for innovation. Its mission is to strengthen skills and build capacity across the industry, with a vision of becoming a regional center of excellence for grain-industry training and innovation in Africa. GBI’s stated values include integrity, excellence, inclusive partnerships and collaboration, innovation, and making a difference.

The institute offers occupation-based and competency-based courses, alongside consulting and mentorship services. Its training topics include warehouse operations and management, post-harvest handling, aflatoxin detection and control, safe grain handling, whole-grain milling and fortification, international trade processes, and structured commodity trade finance. Programs combine practical learning with industry-focused instruction; some include visits to grain-handling facilities. GBI also provides training-of-trainers initiatives and publishes schedules, resources and news about its activities. With contact offices and representatives listed across several African countries, the institute supports grain-sector participants throughout the region.
