## Description

The "Ancient Russian Birch Bark Charters" website serves as a vital online resource dedicated to the study and preservation of ancient birch bark documents from the 11th to 15th centuries. This digital platform offers an extensive database featuring photographs, transcriptions, and translations of these significant historical artifacts, primarily excavated from the cultural layer of Veliky Novgorod by the Novgorod Archaeological Expedition. The materials are curated from key publications, including A.A. Zaliznyak's "Old Novgorodian Dialect" and twelve volumes of the "Novgorod Birch Bark Charters" series.

Users can access a rich collection of historical texts, accompanied by morphological annotations and linguistic analysis, forming part of a broader archaeological information system. The website not only reflects ongoing research advancements but also provides a collaborative effort among various institutions and scholars in preserving Russia’s linguistic heritage. Launched in 2007, it continues to evolve with updated resources, reinforcing its status as a crucial hub for researchers and enthusiasts of medieval history and linguistics.
