## Description

Green Bank Observatory (GBO) is a national radio astronomy research and education center founded in 1957. Supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation and operated by Associated Universities, Inc., it conducts scientific research and provides facilities and resources for the astronomy community. Its telescopes include the Green Bank Telescope, the 20 Meter Telescope, and the 40 Foot Telescope. The observatory supports researchers through observing proposals, telescope instruments, training, data processing and access, workshops, meetings, and scientific publications.

GBO also offers educational programs for students, teachers, scouts, and the public, including field trips, outreach resources, and opportunities to take part in radio astronomy. Visitors can explore the Green Bank Science Center, join guided site tours, and attend public events. On-site amenities include an Exhibit Hall, the Galaxy Gift Shop, and the Starlight Café. The observatory shares science news and media resources, and provides information about spectrum management and the National Radio Quiet Zone, which helps protect radio astronomy from interference.
