## Description

The Green Schools Alliance (GSA) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering schools in their pursuit of sustainability and climate resilience. Established in 2007, the GSA began as a grassroots initiative in New York City and has since expanded to nearly 10,000 members across 48 U.S. The organization offers a comprehensive suite of programs, tools, and resources aimed at fast-tracking sustainable practices within school communities. Central to its mission is the START (Sustainability Tracking and Roadmap Tool), a pioneering benchmarking tool designed for K-12 schools. This resource helps schools measure their sustainability progress, collaborate effectively, and share best practices, facilitating a unified approach to creating environmentally responsible students and staff. Through initiatives like student-led challenges, online collaboration groups, and youth leadership events, GSA engages educators, administrators, and students alike, fostering a community committed to measurable environmental change. With over 100 million pounds of CO2 saved, the Green Schools Alliance is at the forefront of the green schools movement, inspiring sustainability champions worldwide.
