## Description

Grand Rapids Martial & Cultural Arts (GRMCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit center in Kentwood, Michigan, dedicated to training, teaching, and education in martial and cultural arts. Its mission is to broaden access to these practices through enriched programs, immersive learning, and committed study. GRMCA offers regular instruction in Aikido and Zen meditation, with classes for adults and children. Aikido training develops awareness, balance, and connection as ways to address conflict. The center also practices Iaido, or Japanese swordsmanship, teaching forms from the Muso Shinden Ryu and Shindo Munen Ryu traditions, followed by the twelve Seitei Iai forms required by the Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei. Its Aikido practice follows the tradition of T. K. Chiba Sensei as transmitted through Birankai North America. GRMCA plans to add courses in areas such as Japanese language, tea ceremony, and women’s self-defense, alongside broader cultural arts programs. The center welcomes students of all abilities and backgrounds and supports meaningful practice for every member.
