## Description

Growing Healthy People (GHP) is a dynamic 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2014, dedicated to fostering sustainable agriculture and addressing food insecurity in Lake and McHenry Counties, Illinois. With a strong commitment to growing healthy food, GHP provides educational opportunities for students of all ages, introducing them to careers in sustainable farming and innovative food production technologies.

The organization plays a crucial role in combatting food insecurity, serving a community of over 49,000 individuals who lack access to nutritious food. GHP creates community partnerships that enhance growing spaces, offers hands-on learning experiences, and teaches individuals how to cultivate their own healthy food. Their initiatives include the Tech Farm, Matthias Academy, and the New Food Forest, all designed to equip the next generation of farmers and food producers.

Led by experienced educators Cheryl Besenjak and Kevin Westing, GHP embodies a collaborative spirit, working tirelessly to build a sustainable future for food while caring for the planet. Join their mission to make a lasting impact today!
