## Description

The IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) is a global community of researchers and practitioners focused on understanding Earth through geoscience and remote sensing. Its members collaborate to develop tools for studying interactions with Earth’s ecosystems, monitoring environments, oceans and ice caps, and characterizing potential risks. As an IEEE society, GRSS connects professionals and supports knowledge-sharing across the field.

GRSS offers membership, technical committees, chapters, educational resources and opportunities for students and young professionals. Its activities include webinars, schools, tutorials, outreach programs and conferences, including IGARSS, its flagship International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. The society also sponsors and co-sponsors other conferences and events.

Its publications include journals and magazines such as IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, JSTARS, GRSM and J-MASS, alongside IEEE Access and an eNewsletter. GRSS provides author resources and calls for papers, and supports professional development through awards, distinguished lecturers, member resources and career opportunities.
