## Description

Galerie St. Etienne is a New York art gallery founded in 1939 by Otto Kallir. For more than 80 years, it was a leading American venue for Austrian and German Expressionism and for art by self-taught artists from the United States and Europe. The gallery was the exclusive representative of Anna Mary Robertson, known as Grandma Moses, from her first solo exhibition in 1940. Although Galerie St. Etienne closed its exhibition space at the end of 2020, it continues to represent contemporary artist Sue Coe and maintains a limited inventory of artworks available to collectors. Its holdings include works by artists such as Max Beckmann, Otto Dix, George Grosz, Gustav Klimt, Käthe Kollwitz and Egon Schiele, as well as self-taught artists including Morris Hirshfield, John Kane and Grandma Moses. The gallery invites inquiries about available works. Its library, archives and scholarly activities were transferred to the Kallir Research Institute, a nonprofit foundation established in 2017.
