## Description

Capital Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a Wellington martial arts school focused on practical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), a grappling art that teaches students to control an opponent and manage challenging situations. The school emphasizes learning techniques through hands-on practice, so students can test and refine their skills during each session rather than relying on forms or ritualized drills. Its training is designed to build confidence and control, with techniques that may be used to restrain or incapacitate an opponent.

The club welcomes beginners and experienced practitioners, offering weekly beginner classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 144 Tory Street in Te Aro. Members train with a large group of partners in a friendly, safe environment that the school describes as inclusive of people from varied backgrounds. The program is supported by experienced instructors and competitors, and the school has hosted internationally recognized BJJ coaches and competitors. Capital Brazilian Jiu Jitsu also highlights the social side of training, encouraging members to learn together, enjoy the process, and build lasting friendships.
