## Description

GT Independence supports people who want greater control over their long-term care through self-directed services. The organization helps individuals choose who provides their care and how they receive support, with the aim of helping them live according to their own preferences and remain in familiar surroundings. Depending on state program rules, participants may hire trusted people, including friends or family, as in-home or community-based caregivers.

GT Independence assists with getting started and managing practical responsibilities such as caregiver taxes and paperwork. Its services are designed to simplify the details of self-direction while helping participants manage costs and shape care around their needs. Because long-term services and supports vary by state, the organization also provides information about local Medicare and Medicaid options.

For day-to-day administration, the free GT App enables caregivers to record work hours, obtain approval for shifts, and submit timesheets for payment using a phone or tablet. GT Independence also offers a portal and resources for participants and caregivers.
