## Description

The Global Union of Zoological Institutions (GUZI) is a worldwide alliance connecting zoos, aquariums, wildlife facilities, and professionals committed to animal welfare, conservation, education, and ethical, science-based practice. Its mission is to strengthen collaboration and support more sustainable, transparent, and resilient zoological work across regions. GUZI welcomes individuals and institutions through professional, institutional, affiliate, partner and sponsor, and collective membership categories. Membership is free through 31 March 2027; a finance policy will be determined by members thereafter.

GUZI offers members access to shared resources, research, best practices, protocols, and a webinar archive, alongside collaborative tools for animal data coordination, care planning, genetics, and transfers. Its initiatives also include coordinated conservation breeding programs, professional development through training, workshops, webinars, and certifications, and a global network with opportunities to join working groups. Members can showcase conservation work through GUZI awards, conferences, and media opportunities. Guided by principles including scientific rigor, inclusion, public engagement, sustainability, and animal welfare, GUZI aims to help zoological professionals and institutions learn from one another and advance conservation together.
