## Description

The Greater Vancouver Zoo is a premier zoological destination dedicated to education and conservation. Established in 1970, it has grown from a small drive-through to a 120-acre facility housing 140 species in the heart of the Fraser Valley. The zoo is home to many rescued, donated, and orphaned animals, with a mission to provide a fun and enriching environment for guests to learn about animals and their natural world. The importance of zoos in wildlife conservation cannot be overstated. As wild spaces continue to shrink, zoos and aquariums play a crucial role in protecting and preserving threatened species. Through programs like the Species Survival Plan and collaborative husbandry guidelines, zoos work internationally to maintain genetic diversity, conserve habitats, and care for animals with their physical and cognitive needs in mind. The Greater Vancouver Zoo is committed to animal health and welfare, considering both their physical and emotional well-being. With national and international accreditation, it ensures excellent animal care, public education, and local, national, and international conservation efforts. By visiting the zoo, guests can not only enjoy a memorable experience but also contribute to the protection of our environment and the species we're losing. Skip the line and buy tickets online to explore the sprawling acreage, meet the animals, and immerse yourself in the beautiful sights and sounds of the Fraser Valley.
