## Description

Open Media Network (OMN) is a community-oriented initiative focused on building a more open, resilient internet through shared infrastructure, open standards and collective control. Its writing explores how communities can use digital technology without relying entirely on commercial platforms or placing the burden of server administration on individuals. OMN promotes community hosting and federation as practical ways for local groups, cooperatives, unions and other communities to operate services together, with a longer-term interest in connecting federated networks with peer-to-peer technologies.

The network’s projects and publishing cover open media, governance, community networking and the Fediverse. Its site features articles, stories, videos and hashtag-based discussions, alongside initiatives such as Open Media Networking, The Open Governance Body, Making History, Indymedia Back and Boating Europe. The material also includes practical experiments, including solar power and electric propulsion for a down-river cruising boat. OMN presents these activities as part of a broader effort to support community-led technology and the open web, while encouraging people to take part in developing and managing the tools and services they use.
