## Description

Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. (HGA) is an international membership association and nonprofit dedicated to educating, supporting, and inspiring the fiber art community. Founded in 1969, it brings together weavers, spinners, dyers, basketmakers, fiber artists, educators, and others who value textile traditions and creative practice. HGA encourages excellence, fosters creativity, and works to preserve fiber arts through learning and community.

The organization offers scholarships, grants, retreats, virtual events, and professional development through programs such as Careers in Textiles and Guild Development. Its resources include member and affiliate guild directories, an events calendar, online galleries, equipment exchange, and the quarterly Shuttle Spindle & Dyepot magazine. HGA also promotes artists and raises awareness of fiber arts through annual exhibitions, calls for entry, and awards.

A key event is Convergence®, a biennial five-day conference featuring seminars, workshops, vendors, exhibits, a fashion show, and tours. The 2026 conference is scheduled for August 12–16 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
