Harlem Grown is an independent non-profit organization that aims to inspire youth in Harlem to lead healthy and ambitious lives. Their mission is to achieve this through mentorship and hands-on education in urban farming, sustainability, and nutrition. Since their establishment in 2011, Harlem Grown has operated local urban farms, increased access to and knowledge of healthy food for Harlem residents, and provided farm-based development programs to elementary-aged students.

They believe that healthy habits start young, which is why their programs focus on this age group. However, their impact extends beyond just food provision and distribution. Harlem Grown seeks to create sustainable change in the entire community through mentorship, education, and partnerships.

They have successfully transformed abandoned lots in Harlem into thriving urban farms, currently managing 13 facilities including soil-based farms, hydroponic greenhouses, and school gardens.
