## Description

The Hellenic Society for the Study and Education of Diabetes (ELEMED) is a scientific organisation based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Founded in 1986, it was established to promote diabetology in Northern Greece and has since grown to more than 530 members. Its work focuses on advancing knowledge, education and scientific communication about diabetes.

ELEMED organises an annual Panhellenic Congress with international participation, a programme of postgraduate educational courses for healthcare professionals, and scientific events on diabetes and related topics. It also publishes Hellenika Diavitologika Chronika, a specialist journal that it has issued since 1988. The society provides educational resources for doctors and information for people living with diabetes, alongside news about research, clinical practice and relevant public initiatives.

Through its membership community, events, publications and online information, ELEMED supports professional development and broader awareness of diabetes. Its activities also include scholarships for diabetes education and training, as well as support for doctoral research.
