## Description

The History of Advertising Trust (HAT) preserves and shares the heritage of Britain’s advertising industry. Described as a memory bank for UK brands and advertising, its specialist archive collects material from the past and present, safeguarding it for study, research and future use. HAT also helps businesses, researchers and creative professionals discover authentic historical references that can inspire product innovation and provide insight into changing brands and audiences.

Visitors can search HAT’s online catalogue, which includes television, cinema and online commercials, radio advertisements, print advertising, ghost signs and other archive collections. The organisation provides archive services, supplies advertising material to production companies, studios and researchers, and offers research support in areas such as brand heritage, agency legacy and teenage audiences. Its Ad-Memoire resource and educational initiatives, including group visits, make archive material accessible for learning and reminiscence.

HAT invites the public to support its work through Friends and Patrons, Adopt an Ad, donations, volunteering and legacy giving.
