## Description

The Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft e.V. is a Berlin-based organization dedicated to documenting and communicating the history of opposition and resistance to communist dictatorship in the German Democratic Republic and the Soviet occupation zone. Its Archive of the GDR Opposition collects, preserves, and makes accessible historical materials, including personal archival collections, photographs, and records of the East German opposition and citizens’ movements. Created through the объединение of three archives, it has developed into a major resource for research into this history.

The organization supports public engagement and historical study through archive research services, exhibitions, events, and publications. Its program includes panel discussions, lectures, book presentations, and exhibitions about opposition, resistance, the peaceful revolution, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Publications are available through individual titles, series, online materials, and an online ordering service. The society also shares current news and thematic dossiers and provides information about plans for a Forum for Opposition and Resistance covering 1945 to 1990. Archive visits are available by appointment, with research inquiries handled by email or telephone.
