## Description

Hawaii Aikikai is a longstanding Aikido organization in Hawaii, established in 1953 to teach the Japanese martial art and support a healthy lifestyle. Its Waialae Avenue dojo, known as the HAK Academy Dojo, was blessed by Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba. The organization presents Aikido as a synthesis of martial study, philosophy, and spiritual beliefs, emphasizing personal growth and the protection and love of all things rather than violence or aggression.

Hawaii Aikikai offers Aikido training through its academy and programs, with dedicated options listed for adults, women, youth, and children. Students can enroll as members, attend classes with monthly or quarterly payment options, and take part in rank testing. Daily mat fees are also listed for non-members, including visitors from affiliate and non-affiliate dojos. The organization traces Aikido’s arrival in Hawaii to 1953, when Koichi Tohei Sensei gave a demonstration that inspired local practitioners to begin training. Hawaii Aikikai continues to share the art through instruction and community engagement.
