## Description

The Hawk Migration Association (HMA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of raptor populations and migration, promoting conservation, and inspiring communities to study and celebrate the seasonal movement of birds of prey. It supports a network of more than 200 North American hawkwatch sites through Hawk Count, an online database offering migration count data and site profiles. HMA also contributes to the Raptor Population Index, a partnership that develops conservation assessments and population trends from migration counts, and makes its Hawk Migration Studies journal available digitally at no cost.

HMA’s work combines research, conservation advocacy, education, and public engagement. Its initiatives include winter raptor surveys, monarch butterfly migration monitoring, the Migratory Dragonfly Partnership, and resources for protecting nesting raptors. The association provides identification guides, educator materials, and programs for young hawkwatchers, alongside monthly virtual Lunch & Learns, tours, meet-ups, and International Hawk Migration Week. Individuals can participate through membership, donations, events, and educational programs, helping support research and raptor conservation.
