## Description

The Helsinki Citizens' Assembly-Vanadzor (HCA-Vanadzor) is a leading human rights organization in Armenia dedicated to the promotion of democracy, tolerance, pluralism, and the supremacy of human rights. Established in 1998 as a branch of the Helsinki Committee for Armenia, it became an independent entity in 2001, with its main office in Vanadzor and a representative office in Yerevan. HCA-Vanadzor provides free legal assistance to over 1,000 citizens annually, engaging in strategic litigation and monitoring closed and semi-closed institutions, local governments, and electoral processes. The organization also focuses on legal analysis and legislative proposals, informing international bodies about Armenia's adherence to its international obligations. Additionally, HCA-Vanadzor prioritizes capacity building through various training and discussions for underrepresented groups, including soldiers, war victims, and individuals with mental health issues. Its initiatives, such as the legal clinic program launched in 2013, have trained over 80 young lawyers, fostering a more educated approach to human rights advocacy within the community.
