## Description

Healing Cortland is a dedicated community-wide initiative focused on reducing opioid-related overdose deaths in Cortland County. Supported by the Cortland Area Council on Trauma Care (CACTC), Healing Cortland collaborates with a wide array of local partners and individuals affected by the crisis to implement effective life-saving strategies. The initiative provides vital resources, including training on naloxone (Narcan) administration and access to Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), helping to combat stigma and promote education about addiction recovery.

Healing Cortland also engages the public through community events, newsletters, and a blog that shares impactful stories and updates on recovery initiatives. Under the leadership of Project Director Sara Watrous, the team actively works to foster understanding and empathy within the community, encouraging residents to recognize the importance of harm reduction. With the support of numerous community members and organizations, Healing Cortland is committed to improving lives and preventing future tragedies related to opioid misuse.
