## Description

The Ministry of Health Guyana works to improve the physical, mental and social health of all Guyanese. Based in Georgetown, it oversees national health programmes and services spanning communicable and non-communicable disease control, family and primary healthcare, regional health services, rehabilitation, disability services, and health sciences education. Its responsibilities also include policy development, administration, standards and technical services.

The Ministry provides information and resources through health matters, public service announcements, newsletters, videos, guidelines, legislation and other materials. It also shares news about health services, facilities and initiatives, and lists centres where people can seek care.

Government-sponsored programmes highlighted by the Ministry include the Universal Health Voucher, which offers eligible residents support for laboratory tests at approved private facilities, as well as vouchers for eye testing and spectacles and cervical cancer screening. Additional initiatives cover dialysis treatment and medical treatment. The Ministry also supports health outreach and screening, including its Health On The Move initiative.
