## Description

Healthbeat is a nonprofit news platform dedicated to exploring and reporting on the intricacies of public health in America. Operated by Civic News Company in partnership with KFF Health News, Healthbeat aims to provide dependable coverage of the public health safety net, especially in times of skepticism. The platform focuses on vital health topics such as infectious diseases, air and water quality, food safety, and ongoing research aimed at enhancing community well-being.

With reporting initiatives beginning in New York City and Atlanta, and plans for expansion to additional locations, Healthbeat acts as a community health forecast connecting key players, including healthcare workers, government agencies, and community organizations. Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Healthbeat encourages community engagement by inviting feedback, stories, and suggestions on public health experiences. Through accurate reporting and a commitment to understanding systemic issues, Healthbeat strives to elevate the discourse on public health so that together, we can work towards meaningful solutions.
