## Description

Community First Health Co-op is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit community service cooperative based in Nelson, British Columbia. Incorporated in 2003 by local residents seeking to strengthen health care, it works to improve the health and wellness of individuals, families, and communities through partnerships between consumers and health service providers. Its vision is of healthy Nelson-area communities where everyone has equal opportunities for good health. The co-op supports local services and connects residents with partner organizations offering programs in areas including seniors’ support, affordable dental care, and health and well-being for people living with cancer and their families. Its partners also provide direct goods and services to seniors and disadvantaged people. The organization promotes cooperation, local control, education, and community involvement, and invites residents to become members and help shape local health care.
