## Description

Heart Exchange Support Group, Inc. is a Houston-based volunteer organization offering compassionate support and education to people affected by solid-organ transplantation. Celebrating more than 40 years of service, it serves heart, kidney, liver, and lung transplant recipients, people awaiting transplants, assist-device recipients, and their families, friends, and healthcare professionals. Its mission is to support patients and families before and after transplantation while promoting organ-donation awareness and education.

The group provides weekly virtual meetings on Wednesdays, along with in-person activities, opportunities to share personal experiences, helpful information, and connections with others who understand the transplant journey. Members can find encouragement, practical resources, and a welcoming community without membership dues. Heart Exchange also supports patient assistance, education, and research, and has granted funds toward these efforts. Its activities include donor-awareness initiatives and educational programming, as well as sharing healthy recipes to inspire transplant patients and recipients. For patients at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, volunteers may be able to visit upon request through a nurse.
