## Description

Sterilization of Medical Supplies is a knowledge centre focused on improving sterile supply in healthcare facilities, particularly in the developing world. Led by Jan Huijs of HEART Consultancy, the initiative draws on decades of experience in hospital equipment maintenance, sterilization, and staff training, including work in Ghana and other countries. Its aim is to help health services provide safe, adequate sterile goods, including in emergency situations.

The site offers consultancy and practical support for sterile supply departments, including assistance with planning departments and selecting, procuring, installing, maintaining, and repairing sterilization equipment. Training is available for department staff, supervisors, engineers, and others responsible for operating or supporting sterilization services. The work also includes research tailored to the circumstances of health facilities in developing regions.

Publications are a central resource, especially a textbook on sterile supply that has been translated into multiple languages, alongside articles, presentations, videos, and other learning materials. In 2023, Huijs transferred the copyright of his books and e-learning materials to the Dutch Sterilization Association, which can provide further information. The site also shares project reports and educational resources.
