## Description

Heather Maisner is a children’s author and publisher whose work makes healthy habits engaging for young readers. With more than 38 books published by imprints including Walker Books, Hachette, Oxford University Press, Macmillan and the BBC, she creates stories for children and also teaches creative writing and offers school author visits.

Her Dinosaur Douglas Books series comprises five rhyming picture books for early years children. Each features a cheeky dinosaur and focuses on a practical topic: brushing teeth, washing hands, enjoying sunshine, healthy eating and exercise, or coping with difficult days. Written with input from paediatric consultants and other specialists, the stories use lively rhyme and illustrations by Alex Godwin to encourage repeat reading and help make healthy routines memorable.

The books have been selected by councils and NHS trusts, with more than 16,000 copies purchased for children. The series also received an Early Years Excellence finalist recognition, and one title is cited in a Department of Health document on children’s oral health.
