Heat Seek NYC

Heat Seek NYC is a non-profit organization that helps tenants and landlords in NYC comply with heating laws. Their mission is to keep our neighbors safe and warm during the winter months. By installing affordable temperature sensors in apartments, Heat Seek provides real-time heating data to aid tenants in ensuring their safety and to help landlords reduce energy waste and comply with heating requirements.

These temperature sensors transmit data to an easy-to-use web app, which integrates the information with public 311 heating complaint data. This combination provides a comprehensive view of the heating crisis in New York City, empowering tenants, landlords, government agencies, and the public to verify complaints and inform housing policy. Heat Seek works closely with community organizations, landlords, and the HPD to make their technology widely available, aiming to create a better living environment for thousands of New Yorkers.
