## Description

The Higher Education Council (HEC) of Rwanda is a public institution established to enhance the quality and accessibility of higher education throughout the country. Founded by Presidential Order N° 081/01 in August 2020, HEC's mission is to ensure that graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for the betterment of Rwandan society. HEC's primary responsibilities include accrediting higher learning institutions, preparing educational standards, approving curricula, and monitoring research quality. 

The Council plays a pivotal role in providing guidance on accreditation, facilitating student loans and bursaries, and coordinating with various stakeholders to gather financial aid for education. The organization holds a commitment to core values such as professionalism, quality, and integrity. Led by Dr. Rose Mukankomeje, an esteemed figure in education and environmental management, HEC aims to foster a skilled workforce that will contribute to Rwanda's development and vision of a knowledge-based economy. With a focus on quality assurance, HEC is dedicated to advancing Rwanda's higher education landscape.
