## Description

Vereniging Heemkunde oalde gemeente Weerselo is a local heritage association founded in 1982 to preserve and share the history and culture of the former municipality of Weerselo. Following municipal changes in 2001, its work continued across the villages of Deurningen, Rossum, Saasveld and Weerselo, as well as surrounding communities. The association collects, archives and makes historical information accessible to its board and working groups, supporting research and future use.

Its resources and activities include local stories, photographs, historical records, information about farms and buildings, and material on wartime experiences. The association publishes books, including Oorlogsverhalen uit de oude gemeente Weerselo, and is preparing the illustrated Markeboek van Deurningen 1634–1840. It also maintains an online collection of bidprentjes, with about 48,000 names recorded and scans being added, and shares local columns and historical accounts. Members and volunteers can take part in heritage work, meetings and nature activities organized by its nature group. The association invites people to support its work by joining or volunteering.
